We find ourselves living in a challenging world filled with uncertainty. Our lives have been disrupted and the future is unknown. People are voicing their opinions on why we are in this situation and what must be done to move forward. The anger and hate that exists is heartbreaking. I often find myself pondering, “What can I do?” As a wife, mother and grandmother living in small town rural America, “What can I do?”
For some time now I have written about cowboys, and what we can learn from them. I have come to the realization that in my lifetime there is no time more important than right now, to get very serious about defining my personal values and establishing my stand. I encourage each and every one of you to do the same.
Clarifying your personal values, make you a better and stronger person. Actually practicing and living by your values, turns them into virtues that become deeply embedded in your character and guide your behavior. Your stand answers the question, “What would I do?”.
Yellowstone is currently one of the most highly watched tv series about a Montana rancher and his family as they fight to save their 7-generation ranch. The characters portray men and women making decisions based on their strong values. Though the series is dramatic, exciting and fun to watch, I wonder if it draws a large audience because so many people are desperately seeking the strong, confident character that stands up for their hard-core values.
Unless we stand for something, we shall fall for anything.
